Amy Miller – CYP Service Practitioner

Amy Miller – CYP Service Practitioner

Where do you live?

I live in Wimborne, Dorset.

What is your role within Dorset Mind Your Head?

I am a service practitioner within the Children and Young People’s team.

What led you to Dorset Mind?

The Dorset Mind values align perfectly with my own. It is such a great charity and I feel honoured to be a part of the CYP team.

What are your interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, dancing, and spending time with my friends and family.

What is your story in relation to mental health?

My mental health story starts with my own personal experiences of anxiety and OCD. Considering this, I have always felt passionate about helping others who experience mental health conditions through education and support. I have completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology which further increased my motivation to pursue a career in mental health. Since then, I have also completed a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology which enriched my knowledge and allowed me to obtain an in-depth understanding of a range of mental health conditions.

If you could give someone a piece of advice, what would it be?

It sounds so simple but getting outside, eating well and exercising make such a huge difference when it comes to mental health – this is actually something that took me a long time to appreciate! It can be really hard to find the motivation but it’s so worth it!

What is one self-care tip that you have found helpful?

Never feel guilty for practicing self-care – it is essential!
