Where do you live?

What is your role within Dorset Mind Your Head?

Children and Young People Counsellor

What led you to Dorset Mind?

I was familiar with National Mind & got to know my local Dorset Mind when I moved into the area 4 years ago, and wanted to get involved in working for the Charity.

What are your interests outside of work?

I enjoy beach & forest walks with my dog, weekends away with family in my campervan, paddle boarding, and I’m a trustee for a new charity for young people in Christchurch.

What is your story in relation to mental health?

I have worked as a counsellor for over 15 years, supporting people with different levels of mental health issues, and feel that I am able to offer support in a congruent & empathic way. I have had support myself with mental health issues in the past, which has helped to shape the person I am, and the way in which I facilitate support to others.

If you could give someone a piece of advice, what would it be?

Be true to yourself.

What is one self-care tip that you have found helpful?

Feel grateful for something every day, make time for yourself every week with something that you enjoy & look forward to.
