Where do you live?
Verwood, Dorset
What is your role within Dorset Mind Your Head?
As a Young Ambassador, I help spread awareness of DMYH services and support Mind charity in continuing to challenge mental health stigma.
What led you to Dorset Mind?
My own experiences from school and what I’ve learnt during my degree highlighted for me the stigma that still exists around mental health. I wanted to help challenge this so started looking for opportunities. I saw the Young Ambassador role advertised on the DMYH website which was perfect for me – an opportunity to challenge the stigma around mental health and start to have more positive discussions with children and young people.
What are your interests outside of work?
I love spending time outdoors, walking my dogs and exploring the places around where I live with my friends. I also love to spend time baking and trialling new recipes.
What is your story in relation to mental health?
Growing up, I witnessed my peers struggle with mental health, and a reluctance from some to talk about it. This was highlighted especially during busy periods filled with exam stress. I applied to start my psychology degree and hope to pursue a career in mental health.
